Tressie Dawson came to the Center for Colon and Rectal Surgery to seek treatment for her Crohn's disease, an inflammatory condition that affects the lining of the digestive tract. George Nassif, Jr., DO, FACS, helped reduce her pain, but informed her that surgery was the only way to treat her condition and improve her quality of life. As a single mother, Tressie wasn’t mentally prepared for the toll a surgery would take on her ability to care for her daughter, Chadafrith. Dr. Nassif knew that in order for her to accept treatment for her physical condition, he had to heal her mind and spirit first. As a team, the Center for Colon and Rectal Surgery came together to help Tressie and Chadafrith get the care they deserved … and much more!
