Fifteen surgeons from Europe, Australia, and the US spent the day sharing videos, discussing technical details of the procedure, and planning training programs and additional collaborations to ensure safe adoption of taTME around the world.
Dr. Albert was tasked with leading the sub-committee dedicated to the standardization of the surgical technique for taTME.
On June 30, 2014, nearly 300 colorectal surgeons from around the world attended the clinical symposium Transanal TME: A New Era in Rectal Cancer Surgery at the 2014 Tripartite Colorectal Meeting, one of the largest coloproctology meetings in the world. Dr. Albert participated as part of the international panel of speakers, presenting videos and recent breakthroughs in transanal total mesorectal excision (taTME).
